Is there anything wrong with buying a cheap cpu now to insure everything works and buying a better one later?

I want an i7 cup for my computer but I don't have the money atm. I thought of buying a cheaper Intel cpu just to insure my part work. Is there anything that could potentially go wrong if i did this (for example if I use the cheap cpu, I won't be able to switch it for the better one).

One more question, say I buy the cheaper cpu, probably and Intel celeron series. If I install programs, say a program for a PCIe wireless adaptor, changing the cpu won't affect that either right? I just want to confirm

Ok, sorry for the bother and thanks again

As long as cheap CPU and future CPU use the same socket you are good to go.

And while you got the cheap cpu in there, won't hurt to get one that is NOT on the 2014 Intel Refresh list (GOOGLE), so you can update BIOS in preparation if in the future you DO GET a CPU on the said list, which will ONLY boot if the BIOS is updated.

Z97: OK then ignore above.
