i have a 250gb ssd that has become full within 6 months and all that is on it is the OS, any ideas what might be on it to fill

I store all of my stuff on another hdd so why is the ssd so full, cant see anything obvious as to where all the data is

System Restore points is the likely culprit.
Also, install WinDirStat to see what else is on there. NOTE: this application does not show the space used by the Restore Points.

For the Restore points:
Find your System Restore settings, and see what that is set to.
Control Panel
System
System Protection
System Protection
Click on the relevant drive, and select Configure

It will show you current usage and Max use %

It could be because of the user account being stored on SSd if you haven't moved the saving location on HDD. All of your downloads go to a folder on an SSD. The other reason is that it might be full of Windows updates or if someone (besides you) is also using that computer and not knowingly installs programs onto SSD.
