Looking for durable, long lasting 1tb 2.5 ssd for both a laptop and desktop. Speed is secondary. I honestly don't understand all of the info about controllers other than some are better designed than others.

If that is enough info, what do you fellows recommend? Less than $500 per drive would be appreciated.

Most any modern SSD drive will last the lifespan of 2 computers now days and will outlive a magnetic hard drive. It is not like back with the first couple generations where you had to really baby them and watch things.

The Samsung Evo line is very tried and true and should not give you any issues for many years.

The Samsung 850 EVO is a very good SSD with a 3 year warranty. That being said, the Sandisk Extreme Pro outperforms the 850 and carries a 10 year warranty, which speaks for the confidence Sandisk has in their high quality product. I use an earlier version of the Sandisk Extreme series myself and it has been flawless. I don't use a regular hard drive at all, only the SSD and have not had a single crash or restart (not including power outages) since I built this computer over 3 years ago.
