New build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/8B7Rxr

Planning to overclock to maybe 4.6GHz. Cooler should be enough with push/pull
Is the motherboard good enough for overclocking? I read in another thread that the more cores you overclock, the worse it is for the motherboard. So if I go that high, will this motherboard handle it? The other person said something about throttling for 6 and 8-cores and I have 6 core so I'm a little worried.

can anyone safely say that I can overclock without damaging anything with this build?

This would be more powerful without overclocking.

Actually I already have a PC and I can't afford to buy a whole new PC. All I changed was the motherboard from a Gigabyte GA78lmt-usb3 mobo (SATA 2 with 1 PCIE slot, not enough USB ports in the back, actually bought a usb hub) to a MSI mobo in that build.

If and when I have the money, I'll upgrade the CPU to a i7 or the one you suggested.
