Hi Guys,
I have an Asrock x58 motherboard to which i had windows server 2012 installed.
I since did a fresh install of Windows 7 to which crashed half way through the install due to a power outage.
When i attempt to boot now my computer gets passed the windows 7 logo and then restarts.
I am now attempting to install again from a genuine original windows 7 disk with no success.
Here is some information that may assist with troubleshooting..
* I can get into the BIOS setup utility with no problems
In the BIOS, Advanced, Storage Configuration i have the following:
SATAII Configuration: Enhanced
Configure SATAII as: AHCI
Hot PLug: Enabled
SATA Link Power Management: Enabled
SATA3_1 and SATA_2 RAID Mode Setup: All setup as IDE
Compatible Mode: Enabled
SATAII 1: Not Detected
SATAII 2: ATAPI CDROM
SATAII3, 4, 5 and 6: Hard Disk
SATA3_1,2,3,4,5,6: Hard Disk
Now in the BIOS i go to the BOOT menu and select:
1st boot device: CD/DVD: P0-Pioneer
2nd boot device: SATA: 5M-ST2000DL00
3rd boot device: USB Generic USB SD
I now exit the BIOS and save changes.
The ASROCK X58 screen appears with options (enter setup, enter boot menu, instant flash) and then goes to a screen that says "CD-ROM Boot Priority ..Ready" and will not progress any further no matter what i do (press keys, smash my screen etc .
If i change to boot from the hard disk again it sometimes allows me to select the safe mode options and all that jazz however it gets past the windows 7 logo during boot up and then restarts, again this is due to a power outage of the fresh windows 7 install. (the power outage was done manually by my friend by holding down the power button on the casing - Impatient).
Any ideas how i can get this thing to boot from the windows 7 disk!? Another thing, i have tried quite a few different Windows 7 disks which do work on other computers.
Thanks guys, You assistance and input would be greatly appreciated
