Hi guys

So Intel Turbo Boost has spat the dummy and refuses to work. The monitor programme shows no information about my speed and has 'Energy Saver' permanently on. On startup, it says that Turbo boost needs to be enabled. I restored my BIOS to default settings to no avail. I also checked the power settings and saw nothing amiss. Turbo boost isnt even listed under services in MSconfig!

Anyone got any ideas? I am at a loss! Let me know if you need any information.

My rig:

MSI Z77MA-G45 Motherboard
Intel i5 3570k
GTX 660
8gb Ram
Windows 7

you need to enable turbo boost from the BIOS, if it's disabled. you can check with a clockrate monitoring utility if your turbo boost is working. try cpuid's cpu-z, start a cpu intensive task and observe if clockrate changes.

reboot> enter BIOS> go to cpu settings or advanced cpu settings and look for an "Intel Turbo Boost" entry > set it "Enabled"

the entry may be under "overclocking" section. but it's default.
however, do not enable the "enhanced turbo" setting if you don't need it. that one isn't factory default and it will violate your standard warranty as it'll overclock the cpu beyond it's factory settings.

edit2:
turbo boost isn't a program, it's an auto overclocking tech. check out intel's f.a.q...

Intel Turbo Boost is not a program that should be executed. It dynamically increases the processor's frequency as needed. Your processor has a base frequency of 3.4GHz and Turbo Frequency upto 3.8GHz.

Just open the Task Manager, switch to Performance tab > CPU Activity. Now look below the graph. It will say "Maximum Speed: 3.4GHz" and "Speed". You will notice that the "Speed" is sometimes more than "Maximum Speed" which confirms Intel Turbo Boost is working.
