Install Windows 8.1 Without USB or Optical Drive

I only have an external HDD and I saw a guide but it needs it to be reformated and I do not want to do that. And also I saw a guide about using the internal HDD but still needs to reformat it.

So is there any way to install windows 8.1 without going through all those hassle?

if you have a USB port on your PC just get a USB flash drive, they are very cheap now. Trying to install windows from an HDD is way more trouble than its worth.

I have a USB but it's been write-protected ever since. No switch to trigger it. And every possible solution I found at that time never worked.
