Want to install SSD as boot drive but leave old HDD, can i still see files ? As in, can i drag and drop old files from the HDD to the SSD and then intime format the HDD when i've moved what is needed?
Yes but you cannot copy over programs, only files. You can also clone your HDD to your SSD using a dedicated program, but this can be messy and very easily corrupt your OS. If you install a new OS on your SSD, you will be able to see the HDD as just another drive.

Thanks for the speedy response ShakedG . So even though my HDD will have a OS installed on it , i will still be able to see the files? Sorry if i sound thick.
Yes you will still be able to see the files on it. Essentially what you'll have is the option to boot either from the SSD or the HDD (you can either choose through the BIOS or just press F8 as soon as your computer turns on). When you boot from one, you will be able to see the files on the other.
Yes, you can still access your files, but not any programs that use the old registry.
One caveat:
When you do a clean install on the SSD, leave your old hard drive disconnected.
Otherwise windows will install a hidden 100mb recovery partition on the hard drive.
That will complicate things if you ever want to format or repurpose the hard drive.
Attach the hard drive after the install is done.
