So I built a custom rig from the ground up and was wondering if putting too much pressure on my cpu during aftermarket cooler installation could damage the cpu? It was so hard to get it to sit on the pillars correctly due to my needing to bend the water tubes an awkward way to mount the fan/radiator right above the mobo on the case. It was sitting on one side popping a wheelie so I had to jam it down and do it 1 screw at a time. Cpu was already locked in with the lever. Could I have bent pins even after it was locked in?

Once it's locked in pins shouldn't be able to bend. How tight did you ratchet down the cooler? I mean the motherboard would likely bend long before it actually damaged the CPU if it was locked in that tight. What kind of CPU is it?
