I've read that this motherboard can run other brand of graphics card rather than its own brand. I'm guessing it may be some sort of driver fail which Asus are yet to fix or careless about.
I was looking forward in buying two Asus STRIX GTX 970's until i came across with this. (Saw it on customer reviews in Newegg)

Should I buy these two graphics cards and take the risk [which hopefully there aren't] OR should I stick with MSI as my second option?

[OPTIONAL] In case this motherboard is junk, which other good looking motherboard would you recommend that have red and black colors and supports 2-3 way sli, and includes cool features similar to Asus?

My Build:
intel core i7 4790k
Asus Maximus VII "or other"
Asus/MSI GTX 970 2-way SLI
Corsair Dominator Platinum 16 GB (4GB x 4) DDR3-1866 Memory
Corsair AX760i Fully Modular Power Supply
Corsair H110i GT Liquid Cooler
Samsung 850 EVO-Series 1TB SSD
Corsair 750D
Corsair Custom [Red and Black] Power Connectors

You'll often see a number of negative reviews from people that simply have a problem and not sure what they are doing, with GPUs it's often an underpowered PSU, they put in a new card without removing old GPU drivers, they don't set Primary graphics in the BIOS for the card, there's all kinds of things ;)

Haven't had trouble with any of the Maximus VII mobos and Strix GPUs, have used the 970s and 980s (Strix models) on the Formula and the Hero (mine in sig). Not sure what you saw, may have been someone with an old BIOS, using old drivers, didn't load mobo drivers, or who knows what ;)

Well I had to look at some reviews of this motherboard at Newegg and Amazon, and some unfortunate people had this issue, but what really worries me it was posted last month on the 12th and it seems that Asus have not fixed this problem yet. I hope the chances of getting one like that are very slim.
Also I'm glad you haven't had any trouble with them :)
