Re-Use Old Hard Drive On New Computer?

So I am about to build a new computer, but I don't have an internal drive for it yet. I didn't want to have to buy a new one if possible because I have two or three used ones already that I don't need the files on anymore. Is there a way to re-format one of them for use as the primary drive of the computer? I know if you can get into windows you can re-format it as the primary partition, but I'm pretty sure I can't get into windows that without buying a new hard drive first and then installing windows on that hard drive. I hope that all makes sense, I'm sorry if I am being a bit ambiguous...

Solution
If you have a valid Windows install DVD or USB, you can do that directly from the install routine.

Put the drive in
Boot from your installation media
Select Custom
Select each partition, Delete
Make the whole thing one partition
Format
Let the install finish

So I can just plug in one of my old hard drives and then pop in the windows disc and it will repartition/reformat it? Okay. I'll try it... :)

It won't do it automatically. You have to click the correct boxes.
