Hey guys,
I am planning on building my first ever pc,
preferably around 1600-1700$CAD including taxes and shipping.
I can go up to $2000
I'm using my own money so I don't want to go overboard.
I am planning on using this build for gaming, photoshop/illustrator, video editing, and for school.
Hoping to buy one next January, if prices are low, hopefully December.
Some of the parts I wish to have are:
-Intel Core i7-4790K
-I don't know if I should get a cpu cooler since I won't be overclocking until later years.
-I also don't know what motherboard to get, preferably any z97 though, if there are any not costly one with wifi and good sound, also support SLI (planning on getting extra video card later on)
-any good 16gb ram
-MSI Gtx 970
-1tb HDD
-Any opinion on what SSD card to get?
-How is EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply for a PSU?
-I also don't know what case to get, hoping to get one with fans included, good cable management, and 3.0 usb ports at the front, doesn't have to be too stylish
-I'm also planning on buying an OS, windows 8.1 preferably
-Do I need to get thermal paste? If so, any good ones?
-I am also planning on getting a new keyboard and mice that is good for gaming. what are good ones?

I'm open to any suggestion. Please give me opinions and suggestions on what parts to get! Thank you :)

Thank you for the quick reply! So I do not need to buy a CPU cooler? I can just use stock? No thermal paste also? Any reason why you chose asus over msi gtx 970?

You can use the stock cooler to start with. You may want to change it out for a better one in the future if you feel the stock one is too loud. No need to buy thermal paste. Pretty much every after market cooler will come with it's own. The Asus was cheaper. No other reason.

What would you suggest for a CPU cooler if I do get one when I OC? Is an h100i compatible? or should i stick with Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

You can fit a GTX 980 in that budget.

Added a cooler to your build because it could be added.

...but you're gaming at 1080p 60 Hz. Am I right? 970 is the sweet spot. 980 is overkill but good to have, I guess.

any reason why the choice of motherboard? I am stuck with motherboards, I don't know what components to look for in a motherboard other than if it supports SLI, has plenty 3.0 usb ports, good sound, and maybe wifi
