amd fx8320 heat problems

hi guys i recently got a new mobo and cpu. i have an msi970 gaming mobo and and fx8320 cpu. all works fine but then i loaded csgo up and temps were instantly over 69c within a heartbeat. even opening browser up the temps are above 50c. i do have stock cooler on my cpu but surely cannot be this bad? isnt overclocked either! also reapplied thermal paste so i no that isnt the problem. is the 8320 just that hot or is something wrong? also on cpuid hw monitor the temp is always spiking up like from 35c to 50c then back down all the time

the entire FX range run fairly hot, especially the 83XX and up, look at the hyper 212 cooler, or even a all in on liquid cooler, as the stock coolers really aren't that helpful

ok thanks for quick reply i was wondering about getting the h110i water cooler from corsair. how much do you think it would reduce my temps by? have 6 corsair fans in rig and ambient temp is fine in here

The stock cooler is a piece of junk, and sounds like a leafblower to boot. H110 or even a 212 Evo would make a massive improvement to cooling. I rarely see over 54C with a full load (video conversion, etc) on a 4.5 GHz overclock on my 8320 with a 212 Evo.

Exactly which MSI 970 motherboard did you get? Sorry to say, they are notorious for burning out the VRMs when used with FX83xx class cpus.

oh dear thats not what i want to hear lol its just the msi 970 gaming board. just cant belive that this cpu is known for going this hot. everytime i start up its over 55c and thats just doing nothing. does anyone know why the temps are spiking so much on hwi monitor? its like going up 20c then down alot.

This heatsink/fan will ensure some good airflow over the motherboards VRMs. If you use a water-cooler, your cpu temps will be a little lower, but then you'll have no airflow on the VRMs.

ok guys thanks for help! still getting insanely high temps but getting a diffrent cooler tommorow. also wondering about cpu vcore? im abit of a noob when it comes to this but is it normal for it to be spiking up to 1.456v when i havent oc at all? i just noticed on hw monitor that everything is just spiking up and down since i got new mobo! thanks for help guys

fixed the problem now guys got the h80igt and temps are like 10/15 when idle and 21 while playing games! cant belive how good it is! thanks for everything guys

Unless the system is in a freezer, that's impossible. Use AOD to check the thermal margins because the temperature can't be read accurately.
