Computer suddenly really slow on startup.

For some reason, 2 days ago my computer started stalling on the "Please wait" part of start up (Windows 8.1), this is before the log in. It now takes roughly 5-10 minutes to get to the log in part of start up, but the problems don't stop there. After typing my password and hitting enter, it will do nothing for about 5 minutes, before going back to the log in part and having me type my password again. This time it will do nothing for about 2 minutes, before starting to log in. logging in takes about 15 minutes. This happens every time i turn my computer on. I didn't install any new software since before this started happening and nothing updated. I've already ran a virus scan and defragged my hardrive, both of these did nothing. Does anyone know of any possible reasons why this might be happening and how to fix it? It's getting annoying so I'd like to get this solved.

Is the hard disk light stuck on or do you hear lots of activity?

Might be time to download a utility to check out the hard disk's health.

If its not a new software issue then it sounds as though its a failing hard drive. Back up what you can to an external hdd just in case it is failing and do a disk health report (right click the drive and under tools tab check for errors) and that should help narrow thngs down

I did an error check and it showed up with nothing, i have a second hard drive that i can put everything onto and see if that fixes it, but id like that to be a last resort

if ccleaner is installed go to tools/startup and uninstall. Save to txt file bottom right. Copy and paste both of them here

Have you tried a Windows system restore to a date before this was happening? Sometimes fixes issues for me.

These are out of date

You can get hacked with outdated versions of Java

Uninstall them. Install the latest if you use them. Latest is 8 update 45.

I would uninstall this it's crap. And if both of these have firewalls, you should only have 1. It is also a known cause of crashes. And the worst program on the planet !

Otherwise they'll conflict. And your system will crawl. Then use their removal tool

I would uninstall this

Did you add software right before the slowdown? Honestly sounds like what happens when a hdd is full to capacity, or really close to it.

Ok, 2 other suggestions. Run a malwarebytes scan, and update any and all drivers. Everything from motherboard, LAN, USB controllers to gpu.
