I cant Confirm which i should get currently im planning to get the 5960k for my triple monitor setup. ill play new demanding games on highest possible settings and use adobe and 3d modeling software. however other powerful setups use the 5820k or the 4790k. does the number mean anything like higher is more powerful. And is there any processor that is better than any i mentioned. Also does it really make a difference between like the 5960 and the 5820 or are you just paying more for nothing.

Today, the I7-4790K is arguably the best cpu out there for gaming and your tasks.
There are 6 and 8 core cpus that cost more, but they do not have the individual core speeds which are most important for gaming. They are intended primarily for heavy multithreaded production.
The 8 5960X cores run at 3.0 while the 4 4790K cores run at 4.0 stock.
Few games can use more than 2-3 cores.

Best to use a 4790K and spend more on the graphics cards.

Admirable
Geofelt has a point, however it is worth noting that the Extreme I7's can be overclocked, and from what I've seen 4.0GHz is a comfortable overclock that doesn't seem to stretch the limits, as long as you have proper cooling.
