Hi

In short my old motherboard fry and I had it replaced for another one.

The thing is that when i go to all resolutions on desktop it shows me every single possible resolution you can chose on PC together with my optimal resolution, the thing is it does not say optimal near it so i can basically chose any resolution I want but they all look weird except my 1366x768 resolution.

So what is the problem if I can pick my monitor's resolution?

Well I am using nvidia geforce experience and everytime I set the optimal setting for a game it automatically sets a 2560x something resolution and when I launch the game I get a "input not supported" message. also when I launch any new game It automatically starts in that 2560x resolution and I have the input not supported message again and I need to find tricks to somehow launch it in window mode or find the config file and change it there and it is really annoying.

is there anyone here who knows how to fix this?

Graphic card : GTX 560 Ti ( using NVIDIA geForce Experience )
Mother board : MSI MS 7788

Thanks!!!

i think someone put optimal resolutions on that monitor. As in More resolutions then it's suppose to have and it looks wierd when you go into those resolutions the pictures are not crisp.

Did you buy the monitor from someone and they told you it has high reso? because they could of lied to you and put in Optimal resolutions in the monitor when the monitor really does not support those resolutions

I have the monitor for a few years, its an acer monitor and the problem only happend after the motherboard switch,

on your previous post do you mean I need to download every single thing on that website? or is there only one specific thing?

Were you using the same graphics card with the old motherboard.

A work around maybe to download the driver for your model of monitor. Normally you wouldn't need this because the monitor communicates this via DDC. However it seems that DDC is not working or something is overwriting the DDC information. With the driver, it will ignore the DDC data and utilize the capabilities specified by the driver.

See if you can find the driver on Acer's site.

My monitor model does not appear on the acer website...

it is P195HQL, I am trying now to find the drivers on other websites who all provide their "installers" that you need to pay for... what a pain.

I have the most recent one and the drivers on website are really so so according to dates

well i found your problem.

this is your monitor. http://www.acerdirect.co.uk/Acer_P195HQLb_18.5_Inch_LCD_TFT_Monitor_P195HQL/version.asp

and it say's it only supports up to Resolution: 1366 x 768 pixels . Sooo who ever put those resolutions more then 1366x768 Optimized the monitor to go more then the supported resolution. And who ever told you that the monitor can go 2560x something lied to you when they sold it to you.

OR you optimized the resolutions and you don't even know what you are doing. Getting a Graphics card and optimizing the reso of the monitor does not let you play in games at a higher reso. the Highest resolution is the recommended resolution of the monitor and if you push any further then that you can damage the monitor. and within a few months you won't have a monitor anymore.

lol I know all that and I never say I wanted to play games higher than my monitor's resolution...

I want to remove all the resolutions above 1366x768 because they start my games on higher resolutions and then I have to tweak the setting the whole time which is really annoying...

also when you optimize games setting in geforce experience it automatically sets resolution to highest (2560x something) and than I cant launch the game...

do you understand?

From the NVIDIA Control Panel navigation tree pane, under Display, click Change resolution.

Click the image that represents the display you want to affect.

Click Customise, then check the Enable resolutions not exposed by the display check box.

From the list that appears in the Resolutions box, select the custom resolution you want to remove.

Click the Delete icon or press Delete on your keyboard.
