That Pentium is a socket 478 and the Celeron is 1150. If you want to upgrade, you will need to research the motherboard and find a CPU compatibly list. Any upgrade you will find will likely be used on eBay as production stopped long ago. However, used is not necessary bad, I did an upgrade for my brothers machine off of eBay and it gave the computer new life. As a project, I upgraded an old machine I had, cost me less than $30 but turned out pretty good.

You can use CPUz, a free program, that can give you detailed info on the computers parts. Especially the motherboard make and model.

Agreed. Socket 478 is hella old and Celron is 1150 socket so you will need to buy a new motherboard if you want that CPU.

I'm sorry to say this to you but socket 478 (what you have) is super old. Do not upgrade. Every pentium 4 by todays standards is super weak. Even if lets say you find a 3 ghz p4 for 5$ I wouldn't do it because its just not worth it. Just save up some money and get a new computer. Normally I would say do a upgrade but 1 its a Dell and they use wierd non standard motherboard normally so putting a new one in there is impossible and well this computer is so old that nothing is useable anymore. I have been in the same position as you and I solved it by saving some money and getting a new computer that fits my needs.
