Hi all, reccently decided to upgrade my cpu to a 4790k, which also meant upgrading board as was moving from AMD. All the rest of the build is straight from my current computer, were it was all working fine. I had chosen the new CPU and board from a compatibility check on PCPartPicker, and indeed have double checked that all the pieces work together.
Having put all the pieces together and tried booting, I get no video signal and a red DRAM LED.
Have tried changing the RAM slots, plugging the HDMI cable into the card and board, using a VGA cable for video, but all to no avail. Am getting increasingly frustrated at this point, and am sure that one of the new components are at fault, unfortunately not knowing which is giving me a headache, should I request an RMA on both, or perhaps somebody knows a remedy?
Anyway, this is my build:
CPU: 4790k
MB: Asus Z87-A
Case: NXZT Phanthom 410
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 770 4GB ACX
RAM; 2x Transcend JM1333klh-8 8gb
PSU: XFX Core Edition 850W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply
SDD: Crucial M500 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
HDD Seagate Barracuda ES.2 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
I'm also using the stock cooler for the CPU, rather than my usual h100, as my thermal paste supply appears to be empty. I have removed this to ensure that the cpu was seated correctly - after research, so need to wait until I can get my hands on more to test any suggestions.
Thanks in advance.
