Hello guys,

I am a pc ultra noob, just getting this out of the way :). Yesterday I finished my first build and I was wondering if there is a right/wrong way to boot the pc for the first time. Im looking for good advice and tips from you guys on things like: were should i connect my monitor (GPU or mobo)? Should I use a wireless or wired mouse and keyboard? Any recommendations on important things to do in the UEFI/BIOS. This sort of thing and obviously anything my noob brain can't even come up with, basically whatever you feel inclined to share with me.
These are the parts I used for the build:

Listof parts:
Asus Z97-A ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
MSI GTX 970 GAMING 4G
G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory
Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Western Digital BLACK SERIES 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
NZXT H440 (Black/Red) ATX Mid Tower Case
Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

I will be running windows 8.1 and allready have the ISO but still need to make it bootable for intalling. I found a nice video that explains its quite easy nut anyway if you have any tips or comments on that please be sure to share :)
Thank you guys in advance
Happy 4th of July for those of you from the USA

Happy 4th of july to you too mate! I am not from the USA though lol.My advice huh? Well I say plug your monitor into the GPU to make sure it works. And if you are a gmer I say get a wired keyboard because of the time required for the signal to travel though air, it takes a couple more millisecounds.EVERY millisecound counts in competitive games. My adivce for first post is this: Take off your side panel and listen for sounds while booting up.At the same time look at the screen for life.Check your motherboard BIOS if you have posted sucsessfully to see if the motherboard is pushing too many volts though the CPU.With this processor 1.10 Volts is ok.But I recommend you overclocking it for maximumg performance, that is if you want to.It is...

What PSU do you recommend? Do you recommend a better brand but the same rating (Bronze) or is a Silver or Gold rating really necessary?
Thanks for the reply

The ratings do not really give you an idea of quality.

Bronze is fine but it must be from a quality company using a quality OEM. For example, the EVGA 750B2 is a bronze rated unit but it is made with the top of the line components from one of the best OEM's out there, SuperFlower. The CX from Corsair is made using junky components from CWT. HUGE difference but same bronze rating.

Get a PSU from Antec, XFX, Seasonic, EVGA (G2,B2,GS) The PSU is the single most important part of the computer.
