I was thinking about getting an EVGA 980 TI graphics card and I already own the Bitfenix Prodigy M case. On PCpartpicker.com it says that my case can handle graphics cards up to 250 mm but the 980 TI is 267 mm long and the website also says that some bay drives may not be usable. So I was wondering if anyone else has attempted this build or if someone has had a problem similar to mine. Any help will be appreciated.

Solution
The Prodigy M has a horizontally mounted motherboard, so the graphics card can be as long as the case. As the case is relatively big for a MicroATX case, the graphics card should fit fine. However, you'll have to sacrifice most of your drive bays to install it.

If you're really worried about it, an R9 Fury X performs equally/slightly better and is much smaller than the GTX 980 Ti.

Man... I started to build my PC yesterday with Prodigy M & 970 Strix. What motherboard do you have?
I cant fit the 970 to the PCIe 3.0 slot, because the backplate of the GPU is releasing the RAM :) as the clicks are just few mm below the GPU line.
Check out your MB and make sure that you remove the clicks in case you will face similar issue.

Size of 970 Strix: Dimensions
11 " x 5.5 " x 1.57 " Inch
28 x 14 x4 Centimeter
So yes, you can fit it there, but make sure your PS cables wont block the GPU and also you wont have any DVD/BD drive.. but all depends on your MB layout.

I have the 980TI and it does fit into the Prodigy M case quite nicely.
However.... I had to lose a drive bay (and lets be honest, this case only has room for one anyway) and there is no way you could SLI them with out losing all top fans.
Other issue is you need to be canny about fan direction. Since it is so big you can't have top exhausts, as it blocks them and you will then have sets of fans counteracting each other that are only inches away. Im running two intakes at the top, exhaust through my cpu water-cooling radiator at the rear (since you can't top mount the radiator with this card), and an exhaust at the bottom. (again, be careful about exhausting into your PSU because of hot air building up at the bottom!). To improve airflow, I've taken off the front panel and added a mesh front panel.

Hope this all helps!

Thanks for your comment. Could you take some pictures, or provide some more information? I'm interested.

The BitFenix site claims:

  • 5.25” Drive Bays x 1 (removable."if install an ODD,can not install an HDD on the top position of the HDD rail")
    3.5” Drive Bays x 4 (x3 with ODD installed)
    2.5” Drive Bays x 5 (3 + 2)

If you install an ODD and the 980 TI (assuming all models are about the same length), what drive bays do you lose? It looks like an ODD already takes out one drive bay, which bay are you referring to when including the 980 Ti?

I'm unclear about your setup. What is so big that you can't have top exhausts? Why do you have the radiator at the rear and not using the the radiator mount at the top of the case?
