Hi there,

I have 2 GTX 780 OC 6GB VRAM STRIX graphiccards at the moment. But there are a few problems.
They are verry loud together, produce a lot of heat and are taking 500 Watt. (I can sell them for €750 = $850)
Is it worth to sell those and buy a second hand Titan X or GTX 980 TI?

And which card should I buy, a Titan X or 980 Ti? I will game sometimes, games like GTA V.
I will use them for Adobe software, quick renders and things like that.

I'm selling them for €750, $850.

The Hybrid is a good model, but not all people want water cooling in their computers. I, for one, tend to stick to air if possible, having seen the effects of my best friend's H100i falling apart mid-game.

If you're looking for a good air cooled GTX 980Ti, the Windforce cooler from Gigabyte is probably the best open air cooler. The quietest option tends to be the Asus Strix, but the Twin Frozr cooler from MSI is also very quiet.

A Titan X would be the best choice for you, utilising CUDA cores and up to 12GB of VRAM for your Adobe software. However, it requires you to have at least 24GB of system RAM to work properly.

A GTX 980 Ti performs very similarly to a Titan X, but doesn't have the huge amount of VRAM that can be useful for image editing. Still, it's a lot cheaper and still keeps the CUDA core advantage over AMD chips.

I have 16GB RAM right now, but I am going to upgrade to 32GB soon. (8x 4GB Crucial CT4K4G4DFS8213 DDR4 2,133GHz)
And what about the performance, will they be the same, or increase, or even decrease?

The Titan X pulls about the same performance as two 780Ti cards in SLI, so you should see a decent performance increase. The GTX 980 Ti, as I said, is almost identical. It performs very similarly in gaming, but for Adobe software I cannot say.

The good news is that I know exactly which card would be perfect for you. The bad news is that supply is very low and it's going to be a mild to moderately challenging for you to purchase one:

EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti HYBRID
http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=06G-P4-1996-KR

I've spoken to their customer service and they assure me that this card comes into stock several times per week, but unfortunately it sells like quickly. I've literally seen it sell out in 5-15 minutes. This card is perfect for someone who renders because the heat is 35 degrees cooler than air cooled models and it's MUCH quieter. Below I've pasted a review of the 980 Ti hybrid (1st link) and also of Octane Render using two 980 Ti's (2nd link). Also, EVGA makes a hybrid version of the Titan X as well.

Also, the GTX 980 Ti TDP is 250 Watts, which is the same as the GTX 780. That leads me to believe that you wouldn't need a PSU upgrade. You'll need to mount the radiator in your case, but that won't be a big deal. In my opinion, the hybrid card is perfect for someone that'll render for hours at a time, and wants the performance without excess heat.

* Titan X system requirements: By the way, you do not need 24 GB of RAM to take full advantage of it's 12 GB of VRAM. That information was mistakenly printed on the Titan X boxes by Nvidia when it was first released. I've spoken directly to EVGA and Nividia about this and they informed me that it's simply not true, but acknowledge that they made the error.

Wow, that GPU looks pretty cool. And then, I saw the price. It costs €840, 1030 USD, 1300CAD.

What if you could choose betweer those cards?
- EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Superclocked+ ACX 2.0+
- MSI GTX 980 Ti GAMING 6G
- Asus STRIX GTX980 ti DC3OC 6GD5 (We do not know the price yet, in The Netherlands.)

GTX 980 Ti Hybrid: Ah, I didn't know it was so expensive in your part of the world. Here in the United States, the card is US$750.

My GTX 970 was the MSI 4G gamer card and I loved it. My GTX 980 Ti is actually EVGA branded, but with the reference cooler. I personally went for the reference because even though the card runs hotter, it keeps the rest of the components cooler. Most people would rather opt for the custom cooler and PCB, such as you're contemplating. Personally I'd be comparing all three cards via NewEgg customer reviews. I like the MSI, just because I had such a positive experience with the 970. The EVGA ACX 20+ cooler is extremely popular from the reviews I read and watch. I also like that I have my one video card and three power supplies documented on the same site; EVGA's. I know these personal arguments are superficial but at least it's honest.
