Hello

I was testing my old gpu with Furmark, after a few minutes my pc shutdown, it got very hot too. Now my pc won't start with the gpu. If I remove the gpu it works. My psu is a 450W psu. Before the test everything was running great. What could have been gone wrong?

Solution
if you went monitoring the temperature directly, and its an old GPU, the thermal paste could have gone dry or dust could have clogged the ventilation. its quite possible the GPU overheated because of that but if your system is very power hungry, or the brand of the PSU is unreliable, the power supply could have fried out taking the GPU with it by overvolting it. Your best bet is to try and test the GPU in another system and have professionals run diagnostics on you PSU.

Dude, it's insane what you did. The gtx 295 has a tdp of 289 watts, but we can assume that with fumark it can go 300+. It's a very power hungry card that requires at least a 650 watt PSU. Testing it with fumark in a 450 PSU was signing it's death sentence.
I'm sorry.

But why is my pc not starting? My psu spins for half a second then it stops. Does it have to do with the dead GPU?

But the psu works without the gpu. The pc starts if i dont use instert the gpu. So I don't think the PSU is dead.

this is when you try the radeon hd 4350 right? im not familiar with AMD card but the power rating might exceed the PSU's wattage.
