hi guys,
i want to install a 5m LEd strip inside my CPU cabinet and it will also be extending to the backside of the connected display.
The specifications of the strip are 5050 RGB led strip 14.4W/m thus totaling 72 watts.
My PSU will be corsair VS550 or VS650 . can it power it , or more realistically wont burn the strip due to excess current since the 12v rail can provide 42A . and maybe there is only 1 12v rail. Also i will be plugging an external graphics card.
So is it a good idea to use the PSU or i am better off with an external adapter 12V x 6A , which i am not able to find anywhere. Btw i Live in India near delhi.

always assume it's single rail unless the label stated otherwise. there's no theoritical limit on how many 12v sockets you can have, since you can add another parallel socket (using y adaper or make your own 4pin socket cluster box) and still be able to get 12v from it as long you stay below the max amp rated.

12v x 42a = 504watt of typical/continuous power. with the led you're down to 432watt on your 12v rail. do a rough calculation on every devices max power draw in your computer that uses 12v (yellow cable usually). if it's still enough then you're good. but also monitor the voltage drop on 12v. dont want it to deviate too far (0.3v) from 12v.
