Can you folks check out my PC build for bottlenecks?

Generally I would like to game GTA V and Witcher 3 at high settings, and sometimes to render 3D using AutoCad, at 1960px1080p resolution, using HDMI. I have peripherals like a mouse and a keyboard, and a screen. So what I ultimately need is just the PC. This is my first PC build, so do forgive me for foolish mistakes and kindly give your opinion on this build of mine.

Motherboard: Asus Z97-A
RAM Kit: Vengeance® — 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 Memory Kit
GPU: nVidia GeForce GTX 970
Processor: Intel Core i5 4460
Power Supply: RM Series™ RM550 — 550 Watt 80 PLUS® Gold Certified Fully Modular PSU
Storage(s): Samsung 850 Evo 512GB
Case: NZXT 340

I would really appreciate it if you PC building masters can tell me where I am lacking. Currently this costs more or less USD 1100.

That is a pretty good system and wont bottleneck. The motherboard is a bit overkill and you may want to get something like this and maybe invest in a better CPU
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157506&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

Make sure you put it together on pcpartpicker to get the best deals on parts.

You mentioned that I should invest in a better CPU and power supply. I do agree in the CPU, an alternative is the i5 4690K. For the motherboard, I feel that a $20 difference is not very much of an overkill, and I honestly just like the aesthetics of the Z97 by Asus. For the power supply, would the RM 550 sufficiently power my GTX 970 and some light overclocking? Or should I just go with the RM 650.

By the way thanks very much for the quick reply and for telling me it's a decent system. I put quite a bit of time into it.

so the PSU is tier one and the same or better quality as the RM, whilst being higher wattage for cheaper. The CPU is near the same price as a 4690k but its basically an i7 without the igpu but it has hyper threading, which should help with rendering and cpu intensive tasks. Keep in mind it cant be overclocked. The 970 is fine for gaming. The H97 is perfect unless you are going to SLI in the future, since the most h97 mobos can do is crossfire, and its not worth crossfiring on h97 to to limited bandwidth (4x). The CPU cooler is better than stock, nuff said. Lastly im not sure you need a 500GB SSD, but if you do, remove the hdd and ssd and add the 500GB 850 Evo, just know that itll be 20 bucks over 1100, if your ok with that. Hope i helped!

i wouldn't personally go with the RM series as it is tier 3. If you already own it then its fine but i wouldn't buy it new

you dont need a better CPU that one is fine. I was just saying that you could downgrade the motherboard and upgrade the CPU and have the same cost.
If you really want a better CPU then you could go with the xeon e3 1231 v3 as it is hyperthreaded.

buy a tier 1 or tier 2 PSU here. read the descriptions.
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

get this. you dont need 650 watts but this isn't much more and will allow future upgrades.

OK, yknow what, I've decided to move to the EVGA 650W PSU and to the Z97M Plus Asus MoBo. For the processor, which should I take, the i5 4460 or the i5 4690K? I'd rather stick with an Intel because I might want to dual boot a Mac OS for my hipster cousins one day. Speaking of OS, would you recommend Windows 7 or Windows 8.1?

Huge thanks to Rhezner and TheNewGeek420 who opened my mind.

The CPU in this build is better.

The RAM is faster

Why are you spending so much on a gtx 970?

The cpu is ok but the Xeon e3-1231v3 is better for your needs.

No need for such an expensive motherboard.

Why are you gettng a 250GB Samsung hard drive for $47 when you can get a 1TB WD Blue or Seagate for the same price?

$379 is a terrible terrible price for a GTX970

This build is both more expensive and worse at the same time.

this is what i would agree with. Im not sure how the rosewill capstone performs, but if he isnt overclocking, than it should be fine. Also to OP, get the xeon, and since you cant overclock it, than get h97 to save money. The other thing is, I would rather see the PSU at 650 watts, because 500-550 watts are going to be working most of the time, around 70-90 percent most of the time. otherwise get this. Also if his budget is around 1100, i think we can get a 650 watt psu, like the EVGA GS 650 watt I listed above.

Sorry for not using the PCPartPickerList website guys, I was on a mobile device but now I'm finally on my old laptop. Reminders that my build is mainly for gaming, and its secondary purpose is 3D rendering using AutoCAD, and hence I decided to go with the Xeon E3 Chip. Big thanks to Rhezner for helping me, and all of you guys who shared your opinion. No, I do not have any spare parts at all, so by all means, recommend me new things, and as a matter of fact, I have never had any PC in the houses that I have lived in at all.
The reason why you guys were wondering why I chose 3 storage devices is that I want to dual boot a Mac OS into it as well, so do recommend me in either getting another SSD or a Hybrid device. Honestly, I was very much close minded about my MoBo and I figured that there were many better looking ones not by ASUS.
Another issue would be my GPU, and I am rather lost in this. If you guys were wondering, the cost does not matter much to me, but still I want to squeeze as much juice with as little money as possible. Honestly I wouldn't buy these online and go to my local computer shops to get the best deal out of every parts. So here is my updated build, I'd rather keep the NVIDIA GTX 970, but still open to suggestions. If you guys were wondering, I have a Sharp Aquos Quattron display, 1960x1080p at 60Hz refresh rate. Another query that I have but you guys did not mention at all is the case. I'd like y case to be white, with a transparent sidepanel, but of course capable of keeping cool and cheap.

this is what i would get. The only thing i changed was the RAM and the GPU. Why spend so much on a gtx 970?

If you want crazy power and don't care about money you could always get the gtx 980ti, but this is definitely not necessary for your resolution. It would be great for GPU rendering though.

For the case, this one is great but you should consider other cases like the enthoo pro, the define r5, and the nzxt h440.

Thanks very much, Rhezner, http://pcpartpicker.com/p/nXm2wP That's what I figured I'd like, as I like Asus' BIOS and I like the look of the Vengeance. Another matter is that I want another budget 120GB SSD for my Mac OS. Any suggestions from anyone?

I recommend the Crucial BX100 ssds over the Sandisk ssds as they are MUCH more reliable for basically the same price.
I still recommend the Rosewill Capstone 550w Gold as it's $49 without rebates whereas the EVGA GS 650w is $85 before rebate.
