I found a used hardrive in my house and decided to install it to my PC. Its plugged in, powered up, and running with a sata cable attached. Both of my hardrives are inserted into sata 2 ports. But every time I try to turn on my pc (with my original hard drive and the new one in at the same time), it gets stuck at the windows start up screen where it shows the window and the dots circling around (windows 8). When I take the new one out and just keep the original one in, it starts up fine. Whats the problem?

Solution
I believe your bios settings are conflicting with the drive to boot from.

Open your bios settings by powering on your PC and pressing the esc, del, or the key that display bios settings at boot

Go to the boot tab
Locate boot priority
Remove or disable the other hard drive you are not trying to boot from by selecting it and pressing the - or + key
Save settings, reboot and it should work now
