a few days ago I upgraded my old GTX 570 to GTX 980 Asus Strix.

my specs:

Asus STRIX GTX 980 stock settings.

Asus Sabertooth x79 BIOS 4801 (Latest)

i7 3820 stock speed, never overclocked.

32 GB RAM

500 GB VelociRaptor HDD (OS and Games installed on that drive)

Power Supply:
Thermaltake ToughPower 850w modular power supply. 2x8 pin PCIe and 2x6 Pin PCIe

Case: CM StormTrooper

Games: EvE Online, Wolfenstain

Computer reliably restarts after 5 to 45 minutes of gameplay, both games on high settings, and during Unigine Heaven with extreme tessellation.
it restarts during Unigine Valey as well
No issues running FurMark for over an hour.

Max temp during benchmarks is 72 C, around 60 during gameplay, high temperature is not the problem.

There are no error messages in the event logs, other than "The previous system shutdown at 3:02:20 PM on ?7/?5/?2015 was unexpected."

Update: i replaced the PSU and problem seems to be resolved.

Yeah, sadly Thermaltake PSU's (and Thermaltake products in general) seem to be low-quality.
