I want to dual boot Mac OS X and windows 8 on my PC. I already have windows 8 installed. My question is can I install Mac OS X on the same hard drive as windows or would buying another hard drive be the more viable option.

PC specs:

CPU:Intel Core i5-4460

GPU: Evga gtx 960 ssc

MOBO: AsRock h97 anniversary LLGA 1150

RAM: (2x4gb) G-Skill Ripjaws series

HDD: Segate Barracudu 1TB HDD

PSU: 430w Corsair CX series

Links to tutorials will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Edit: Could I also partition the hard drive into two separate drives (did something similar to this on my laptop).

Solution
Guarantee that it won't work. OS X needs to be installed on an HFS+ partition.

OP - your biggest problem is obtaining a legal copy of OS X. Solve that before worrying about anything else.

Can't I buy it off the Mac store(I have a cousin with a MacBook so that's no problem). I saw that in a tutorial I was watching.

No, you can't buy it off the Mac Store. You can only do that if you own a Mac. Your cousin can certainly obtain a copy for his personal use, but the licence is non-transferable. This means he would be pirating the OS if he gave a copy to you.

As you know, we can't discuss pirated software here and I don't know of any legal way for a person who does not own a Mac to legally obtain a copy of OS X.
