Hello everyone I am trying to figure out if my Asus M5a99FX motherboard can fit another Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X into it. I see the space is very crowded on the mobo and I am wondering if anyone else uses this mobo with 2 R9 290s in it without a problem.

If the first one clears the blue SATA ports, there's no reason why the second card wouldn't as well. As long as there's nothing else in the way, and the slot below the second blue PCI-E slot is empty, it should fit.

Thanks. I built this computer last year as my first computer. If you don't mind helping me again I would like to ask if I can simply drop the new gpu in while the computer is off and unplugged and switch it on without any additional steps.

There's probably some configuration settings in Catalyst Control Center to enable CrossfireX, but as far as installation, it should be just a matter of installing the card, connecting power and the Crossfire Bridge. Not sure if there are special drivers for Crossfire from AMD that you need.
