general ram questions for gaming

1) What is the best rem setup? Like how much ram, what speed ect.

2)Does the heat shield really make a difference or is it for show? I noticed that the less expensive ram doesn't have a heat shield, does that make a huge difference?

Nice rig, unless you plan to OC the CPU I'd go 1866 or 2133, that way you get the higher data rate and performance over the entry level 1600 sticks. For a new build I'd say 2x8GB for 16GB (4x4GB would be more stress on the MC (memory controller). Might look at the GSkill Snipers or Ripjaws X lines, both are very good with Haswell builds.

8 GB will get you through most demanding tasks, I say 4 GB minimum. Some people take it up to 16 or even 32, in my opinion thats to far. Best RAM set up is DDR3 1866 mhz in 2 four GB sticks laid out with one empty slot (assuming your Mono has 4 slots) between the two sticks.
