Hello,
I am going to be building my PC soon and I will be installing windows 8.1. However, my case (h440) does not have a 5.25 bay drive slot, so I was wondering if it will be okay if to install windows 8.1 on an external optical drive, like this http://www.amazon.ca/External-Combo-CD-RW-Burner-Drive/dp/B00HEBHZYC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1436149460&sr=8-1&keywords=external+optical+drive
I am afraid that this external drive won't show up in the bios to boot from, not allowing me to install windows 8.1. Please let me know if it will or will not work.

That depends on the BIOS of the mobo you have, but if you built your own system as I assume you have, I'd be very surprised if that wouldn't work. You will just need to configure that stuff.
