Try reinstalling the WLAN driver package from the laptop maker's website (make sure it's for your specific laptop model).
If the driver installation says "hardware not found" or "no compatible hardware found", it means it's either the wrong driver or the wireless adapter itself has failed.
If the latter, you can buy a USB plug-in wireless dongle & use that instead.
