Is this PC good for high-end gaming?

Hello. I'm looking to build my own custom desktop. It's use is to be for gaming on Ultra settings, on games like The Witcher 3 and Arkham Knight (if its performance issues are corrected for PC). I know these parts are capable of doing so at comfortable frame-rates (for me, comfortable is anything above ~37fps; I'm not a frame-whore who MUST have 120fps). But my main question is if all these parts are compatible and if, in your opinions, whether they'll be suited for the upcoming advancements in gaming technology and graphics. I know it's impossible to say for certain, but I'd rather not have to rush out and blow $900 on a higher GPU because the one I have now is incompatible with new software and engines. Full specs below (not incl. peripherals or case accessories, and things like fans I can easily add more of. The numbers beside them are all the prices on mWave, where I'm getting it from. [Please don't suggest other websites, either.])

Case: Cooler Master CM Storm Scout 2 Black Case w/ Window - $129 (AB47929)

CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K Quad Core LGA 1150 4.0GHz Unlocked CPU Processor - $455 (AB55541)

Motherboard: ASRock H97M-PRO4 Intel LGA 1150 Micro-ATX Motherboard - $115 (AB54961)

RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR3 1866MHz Black HX318C10FBK2/16 - $179 (AB57697)

Storage: SanDisk Ultra II 120GB SATA III SSD SDSSDHII-120G-Q25 - $99 (AB56727)

PSU: Corsair CX-750 750W V3 80 Plus Bronze Power Supply - $130.99 (AB48638)

Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GD5T OC 4GB Video Card - $475 (AB60664)

OS: Windows 8.1 Pro OEM 64bit - $134 (AB52155)

CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H110 280mm Liquid CPU Cooler - $169 (AB48402)

Optical Drive: Lite-On iHAS124-(OEM)(BLK-SW) 24x - $19.99 (AB59322)

Extra Fans: Deepcool 80mm Hydro Bearing Case Fan 4-pin Molex - $15.92 ($3.98 ea/ x 4) (AA16063)

Yes, it is a good build and you will be able to play games at Ultra settings.
But I would suggest you to choose Core i5 4590 and get GTX 980.
According to this, http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106-6.html , 4590 has best performance per dollar ratio.
If you want to over clock, then choose Core i5 4690K.

i5 4590/4690K won't bottleneck GTX 980

The i5 4590 is cheaper, yeah, but doesn't it have a slower clock speed? Even with overclock, it's slower than the i7 4790K is when running normally.

I don't know much about processors. Why would I downgrade to something with a slower clock if I'm going for performance? Just curious for elaboration.;

because not every game is cpu bound--ie paying the extra may only get you a couple extra fps

where as paying extra for a graphics card can mean a lot of extra fps

so basically if you have a good enough cpu to begin with like 4590 or 4690k the 4790k wont make a large difference in most games but will cost extra money for little gain

Ok, so what about the GPU? In Australian prices, the GTX 980 is $300 more expensive than the 970. Is it worth it?

to me in the uk it wasnt worth the extra from a gtx970 to a 980

unless you are using a very high resolution in my opinion its not worth 300 more

Ok, so if I drop the CPU down it's $100 cheaper. What case would you suggest other than phantek (MWave doesn't have it). What about PSU?

Well our trade and exchange rate is - shall we say - dropping. It's very expensive to get things from overseas at the moment for us. That's why I'm sticking with MWave; free postage within Australia.

yeah just had a look

the evga g2 would have been my choice but out of stock

from the ones available i guess this one--7 year warranty compared to the 3 of the corsair you had

Due to lack of stack, I also changed the motherboard to ASRock A88X Fatal1ty Killer FM2+ Motherboard - $131.89. Is this ok? Thanks for your help so far, btw.

I chose the Gigabyte GA-H97M-D3H LGA 1150. It seems all of the parts are in order now, except for the case. I'll find one of those myself; if you can't see any other issues that need to be addressed in that list, then I'll mark yours as the solution. Thanks heaps for the help.

I was not comparing the i5 with i7 processor. I was telling you that you don't need to spend on an i7. i5 is a great processor for gaming.
Therefore, in my opinion get an i5 with GTX 980.
