AND photo/video editing stuff, and I'd prefer it to be overbuilt because I am involved in HUGE Revit files, 1.5million sf buildings, 600+mb. Can anyone maybe point me in right direction? The only thing I can figure out for now is the gtx 970 works for me because it's got hdmi and two dvi plugs, so I can use my two monitors and the 4k tv I have as big monitor. I need to hook up to 4k. I need bigger power supply, like 750 minimum. Other than that, I am at a loss for what CPU, mothaboard, etc else I need. Is why I ask you since you seem to know exactly what the dilio is. As I said, I prefer to have excess, not minimum of power/storage, etc.

Budget - Easily $1k - hopefully under $2K AND at the same time trying to keep it "simple" if possible.

Overclock? Sure, sounds good, but I don't know what this means, something like getting more power when I need it??

Oh, there's no gaming going on. Just wicked big, HUGE revit files and renderings.

Overclocking is changing the clock speeds of the CPU it is a feature you will pay for in the means of an i7. There is many online guides about it you better read up big time before you do it as it voids the warranty of your PC.

Give me 5 min and I will have a build put together for you.

Wow, thank you 1million times!

Ok, more questions.

Is cooler necessary?
Will this work with gtx970? I only like it because it has two dvi ports and I'll be able to use the monitors I have now with the new TV.
I don't think I need overclock, but what would be advantage? (I'm trying to read up on it now)
Memory is good, can I double that?
I have already 1tb drive seagate.
I have dvd/cd writer
( I could still use these, no?)
windos 7 would be ok with me.

IntelTurtleFan put together a solid build. Overclocking advantage would be speed which autocad/revit makes use of. Hyper threading offers little advantage, about 5%, and about the only thing that uses heavy multithreading/multi core is vector printing. If it's within your budget, 32gb ram would be better for larger projects. If it pushes your budget too far you may even consider going to a 4690k and overclocking it (should easily reach 4790k turbo boost speeds at 4.4ghz, possibly higher) and use the extra $100 for more ram. 32gb ddr3 1866 in 4x 8gb kits run around $200-210 so basically $100 more than the 16gb - the same price difference between the 4690k and 4790k.
