PLEASE HELP. VERY FRUSTRATING PROBLEM.

Last week I built my Pentium G3258 + MSI H81-P33 rig and I have a problem where if I set the CPU multiplier above 32 (3200mHz) to 33 (3300mHz) for example, my computer will not be able to boot into windows.

When overclocking: The computer will boot past the BIOS screen and show the windows boot sequence for 2 seconds and then stops. The system then restarts itself and loads to Windows Error Recovery screen.

I have tried to do Startup Repair but that doesn't do anything for me. And once I go back into BIOS and set everything back to default settings windows boots up no problem.

This problem doesn't occur when I underclock the CPU to 3100mHz.

My BIOS is up to date with BIOS version 1.90.

PS. There are multiple threads online where this CPU and motherboard combination is compatible for overclocking.

Please read my first post carefully, it should answer most your questions.

The system posts when overclocked but won't go into windows and I am using the stock cooler.

Hey sorry for the super late reply, but I did eventually figure it out. What I did was I did a clean reinstall of Windows 7 (the OS I'm running on) and I didn't bother with installing any extra MSI programs or anything like that and went straight to overclocking my CPU from BIOS and it worked! Hope this was helpful, this solution worked for me - hope it works for you too!

Hello, I am very new here (my user does not have even 10 minutes having been created) but I read in another post (h81m-e33) this happens for an upgrade in windows 7. I quote what I read:

"If you Have installed all of Microsoft's Updates even the optional ones, ITS one in particular, That causes Windows 7 to not boot. Search KB3064209 uninstall it will ask for a restart. Restart your computer apply your OC settings and It Should boot into Windows 7 . I would almost always used to hide That update for now if all goes well. "
