Hello guys im between two laptops and i'm thinking which one of these two to buy. The only thing that concerns me right now is the cpu. The one is an hp with a cpu Intel Core i5-5200U 2.2 GHz (3MB Cache) and the other one is a lenovo with a cpu AMD Kaveri FX-7500 2.1 GHz (4MB Cache).
The models are: HP 15-r221nv L0F40EA and LENOVO Z50-75 80EC004UGM

guys note that the graphics card of the hp laptop is a nvidia geforce 840m 2 gb and the lenovo graphics card is a amd r7 m260 2gb

Solution
What do you want the laptop for? Do you need portability and good battery life or something powerful that can handle intensive tasks? There are other factors to consider such as screen flex, keyboard comfort, port availability and build quality.
as a cpu the intel wins by a mile.

As a gaming PC the integrated graphics in the AMD is better then intel.

The only reason to get the AMD model is if you really want to game but can not/will not spend more then $500 to get a laptop that is designed to do the job properly.
For all other purposes the Intel is the clear winner.

It's tough to find gaming bench's for laptops but from the muddy info I could find the fx 7500 apu is about equal to the 5200u's hd 5500 igpu. Not a clear winner. Maybe against the older 4xxx graphics. Every search I did keeps flooding results with cpuboss or similar and I don't put much faith in that site.

Hey, I once chosen AMD over Intel...big mistake A10-5750M vs i5 4200m after 2 days I replaced it, and got the i5 4200m same laptop Hp ProBook.

22 nm (i5) vs 32 nm (A10-5750M) manufacturing process.

The AMD got more than 65C just on youtube(Skyrim +90C low settings), while the i5 never reached 50C browsing (Skyrim 75C max almost High settings no AA) same GPU on both laptops 8750m Radeon 2GB.

According to Notebookcheck.net the Radeon R7 (Kaveri) graphics core and the Intel HD 5500 have fairly similar performance by their estimate and is stated in the link below. However, the are two different Radeon R7 (Kaveri) graphics cores, the one in the FX-7500 (19w) is the weaker version while the more powerful version is in the FX-7600P (35w). They only benchmarked the more powerful version.

You should also take into consideration that weak CPU processing performance can affect frame rate was well. That basically means that while the slower version of the Radeon R7 (Kaveri) graphics core may in fact be more powerful than the Intel HD 5500, the weak processing power of the FX-7500 drags down the performance to the point where the FX-7500 + Radeon R7 and the Core i5-5200u + Intel HD 5500 are comparable in overall gaming performance.

well the hp is surely better for gaming as it has i5 + nvidia geforce 840 but the lenovo has other benefits for example has a full hd monitor, a sshd hard disk with 8 gb ssd, and also 8 gb ram which i think they make it a very good laptop for a daily use

i don't want the laptop for gaming i want a powerful laptop that can run programs a lot of programs at once smoothly and i would prefer build quality as you said, i study computer science and mostly i want the laptop for the university so i prefer something that won't get destroyed easily. Maybe i will put 2-3 games on it that are next generation and my desktop cannot run but i will mostly use it for university and home work

OK, obviously we can't help much with build quality; that's something you'll have to examine for yourself.

Neither laptop is suitable for AAA gaming along the lines of GTA V or Far Cry 4, but less demanding games such as Minecraft will be fine. Any games that run on Valve's Source engine (CS:GO, Half-life 2, Portal 2) will also be fine.

When it comes to performance, the difference in multi-threaded tasks is negligible at best, but the 5200U will offer better single-threaded performance. The 5200U is also more efficient so you'll get more battery life and the laptop will run cooler and quieter.

Based purely on specification, I would opt for the 5200U and pair it with 8GB RAM.

i think the hp laptop with the nvidia geforce 820 with the 6 gb of ram will do well on those games on low-medium settings i have checked a website and it can to better than the r7 260 but the lenovo still has other benefits.. i wont repeat them again you can check them and you will find them... the i5 cpu is slightly better but not much difference

so after reading all specifications you guys suggest me go for the hp laptop with the i5 cpu 6 gb ram and Geforce 820 2gb instead of the lenovo with the amd FX-7500 full hd monitor 8 gb ram and amd r7 260 2 gb graphics card?
