Just debating on the motherboard, day after day I see countless amounts of videos, posts, reviews that say ASUS quality control is shit. Ive decided to not go with the STRIX gtx970 and the ASUS monitors. But i havent seen many negative things about the VII Hero. Why should I buy it over any of the other Z97 chipset mobos.

I may try the overclocking scene but im not a fan of chancing my expensive components for a small boost. What would be a good mobo to go with besides the Hero.

STRICTLY GAMING
Mostly Arma 2 dayz,Arma 3, Rust, Survive The Nights when it releases

I own everything on the list minus gpus, cpu, mobo, and windows 10 isnt out just yet. Ive been buying something every pay day so it doesnt hurt all at once lol.

Most mobos are all pretty much the same. The Gigabyte Z97 Gaming 5 is the best balanced mobo right now it is 30 dollars off. I recommend it over all others right now for overclocking+lga1150 z97. The Gaming 7 is also pretty good too.

Although the VII Hero has 2 cpu fan headers and 4 case fan headers whilst the gigabyte gaming 7 only has 1 cpu fan header and 4 case fan headers. I will be using 2 fans on my 212 EVO and i will have a total of 6 case fans it is wise to get the 2-1 fan connector for my front 140's and rear 80's? I dont want to use a fan controller. Is there a mobo that has 2 cpu fan headers with 6 case fan headers?

I do not think any have that many. You can get these to split them www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100016764&IsNodeId=1&bop=And&ActiveSearchResult=True&SrchInDesc=PWM splitter&Page=1&PageSize=30

The most I have seen was http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157500
2 x CPU Fan Connectors (1 x 4-pin, 1 x 3-pin)
3 x Chassis Fan Connectors (1 x 4-pin, 2 x 3-pin)

You will need splitters then too.

The gaming 7 gigabyte has so you could splitter those too.
4 x system fan headers
1 x CPU header

Couln't figure out how to paste a link but what about the Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SOC FORCE
it looks to have 6 case fan headers and I wonder if I can utilize the water cooling CPU fan header as a case fan header. With 4 USB 3.0 ports this would be a perfect board

With the most recent reviews and videos of ASUS products I think right now they have a quality control issue and I'd rather not chance my money nor time with RMA's. I've changed from going almost everything ASUS to not wanting anything ASUS. And after further reviewing the Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SOC im seeing quite a few people saying that the board is setting the voltage to the CPU pretty aggressively and I haven't the slightest idea on OC'ing or any experience with BIOS to change to a safer voltage. I don't want to have to jump right into BIOS upon turning my system on. Will using the Y splitters on the fans divide the voltage to the case fans?

I'll probably go with the Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SOC Force, ill brush up on overclocking. I'd much rather deal with that vs a defective mobo and 3 week RMA and footing the return costs of the ASUS. Thank you guys on the answers.
