Is this a decent/good gaming laptop, or laptop in general?

I've been searching for a decent gaming laptop for quite some time now, with a low budget (up to 700$) and this seems like a decent gaming laptop...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834314806

I'll be using it for school, and gaming (CS GO, Minecraft, Garry's Mod, CoD WaW, and maybe some newer games [maybe] like some of the newish Call of Duty's or battlefields)

Currently, I am mainly playing CS GO and I want a CPU that can run it with 80+ fps(or around that)...

80FPS on what settings is what you should ask yourself.

The GT 840M will likely get solid 50 FPS + on CS GO, but at 1080p, maxed out with ambient occlusion? Perhaps not. If you are unsure, google benchmarks for your system as there are likely plenty around, as this configuration seems widely available.

For the price, it appears to be a reasonable laptop; full HD, discrete GPU, and i7 (although do note that this i7 is dual core U, so ultra low voltage and runs about as fast as an i5)

For medium settings this will get you good FPS, by good I mean solidly above 40 at all times, anywhere. As the above post with linked benchmarks show, the GPU is capable in performing well in not so demanding games at higher settings with good framerates (benchmark shows 45FPS at Ultra settings 1080P for CS:GO, but its a benchmark so take it with a pinch of salt), and will play newer games at low settings around 30FPS.

At the end of the day, the machine seems decent. I cannot comment on how value for money it is not my native currency.

It may be worth you looking into noise/heat output/battery life/weight of the laptop if you do intend to move it around, but at the end of the day, it is your decision to make. Just remember there are always better things around the corner so don't use 'something new will be released soon' as a major reason for not buying.
