What should I do about my cpu fan speed?

Hello everyone recently (last 2 weeks or so) I've had a problem with my cpu fan going at max speed even though my temperatures aren't even close to being high enough for it.

It may be worth noting that I am currently using an Alienware x51 r2 with this motherboard "Alienware 0PGRP5" The reason I put this forum is this section is because I have a really strong feeling that the motherboard's sensors are off and that's where this whole problem is starting. I've tried reinstalling windows 7 completely and have even had a computer repair shop look at it for a week, but all they could say was that I probably have some hardware errors and that everything looks fine, but for some reason the fan is just maxing out like it is. (edit: I've also tried cleaning out the pc, forgot to put this in :p)

So currently I feel out of options knowing I'm not the most tech savvy person, my current idea is trying to replace the motherboard with the same exact model. (The x51 has a small case and I don't see it being very easy to transfer to another case so I would prefer the same motherboard.) This is the current listing I'm looking at http://www.ebay.com/itm/Alienware-X51-R2-motherboard-MSI-mini-ITX-H81-chipset-LGA1150-PGRP5-/121694171518?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c5589b17e So this is where I thank you for reading my most likely easily fixable problem, and possibly even thank you for fixing it :)

first of all 66 is pretty had high. that's why your CPU fan is kicking in to only 30%. if i where you. i think it's time to change the thermal past on that CPU. If you have not changed the thermal past for 2 years it's time to do so. If the thermal past is going bad it will cause the CPU to reach at those temp levels. and i am about 95% sure that it's time for the thermal past to be changed.

download "Speed fan" and control your fan from there. i don't understand why you would want to Switch motherboards just because the fan is maxing out. and it's even better that the fan is maxing out it will keep your CPU cool. What are your temps? Use this. http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/hwmonitor/hwmonitor_1.27.exe Click on DOwnload now . I want you to open the program and start gaming for about 20 mins then ult tap out and see what the temps are on Systin and CPUtin let me know.

http://gyazo.com/8d54322d5e1851913c30038a90c5131f So the reason I believe switching the motherboard out for the same model is because the temperatures don't seem even close to high enough for my cpu fan to max out, and the reason why I would like to get rid of it is simply because I hate having a jet engine run right next to me

I changed the thermal paste about a week ago, but I think I'm going to be alright here, darkbreeze has sent me some motherboards to switch out. He says this is a common issue and it can be easily fixed, but thank you very much. It means a lot :)

if you have changed the thermal past a week ago then yah it can be the motherboard.

this is a motherboard i would suggest you to buy.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132176 this is refurbished

Or you can buy this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157504

The only difference from the Asrock to Asus motherboards are going to be the Power phase. Asus has 8 and Asrock has 6 but they are both with high quality power phases for overclocking. If you are going to push a CPU with 3.5 to 4.1 the Asrock will be more then fine. if you are planning on pushing over 4.2 i would suggest the Asus

I dont have any plans to overclock, just to keep it 3.5 and reduce my fan level drastically :) I dont have a budget so I could get the Asus refurbished or brand new, but would it be worth it since I won't be overclocking?
