Toshiba Canvio 1TB external Hard Drive Freezes Windows

Well, I have a Toshiba Canvio 1TB external Hard Drive and whenever i plug it in it basically freezes the computer. The computer is still responsive but i can't open up any programs whatsoever. The Hard drive is split into two partitions one 30GB FAT32 partition and one 970GB NTFS partition.

Hi there Jayden Kable,

Try to test the drive with some HDD testing tool for DOS mode(as your system can't operate properly when the HDD is attached).
Also, it will not hurt to try something simple as just connecting the drive with a different cable to a different port.

In case the issue persists, you can try the Ubuntu Live CD approach. Just boot up from another external drive/CD and try to access the drive. Check this out: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/267999-32-recover-data-mode
