Windows vista ram usage vs windows 8.1 ram usage

hey just wanted to know which OS consumes more ram:

Windows vista 64 bit or windows 8.1 64 bit?

I would like to know which one also takes more video memory and how much video memory does vista take alone while it is not running programs? Tell me the same things for windows 8.1

I do not have hard numbers.

I would say Vista wins. It was the peak of microsoft bloatware.

For the record, my old 2006 laptop with radeon HD4000 GPU and 3GB of ram was SLOW on vista.

On win8.1, it starts up and is fully usable in like under a minute. (no SSD involved)

so.. no numbers but... Vista uses more, that I am totally certain about.

They both use the same memory technology, to use as much as possible before releasing back to the system but Windows 8.1 has the advantage in a better usage algorithm to do this and a smaller overall system footprint.

Video memory is a hard once, as nobody has identical desktops, but would expect 8.1 to be more efficient, just on drivers alone.
