Just picked up GTA V What's the best way to play with my friend

As stated I just picked up GTA V... I know late to the party. Me and my friend were on last night and we were struggling playing together between ending up on different servers (sessions) and trouble finding and getting into missions with each other.

Also looking for more people to play with.

Press "Pos 1". (I think that was the right button)
It opens the Social Club menu and there you have to add him as a friend. After that click on him and it shows "Join session".
