I bought an assembled PC this Sunday. I plugged in my headphones in the front panel audio connector but nothing happened. I plug in the back connector and it works. Motherboard is Gigabyte GA-B85M-D3H.

Solution
There is a cable from your PC case that is supposed to connect into the front audio header on your motherboard (the black port in the image above in top left).

Now some cases have two plugs on the cable, one says HD AUDIO and the other one is AC97. If your case has two plugs make sure the HD Audio is the one plugged in.

Is the front audio port of the PC connected to the front audio port of the motherboard?
