Should I buy a sound card to go in my pc? What would be the benefits of having a sound card?

Thats a nice headset but I don't know that you'd realize the benefits of a separate soundcard, at least not enough to make...

I say it depends on the headphones/speakers you have, and if your motherboard's on-board audio is good enough. If you already have the PC and headphones/speakers, I'd say test it to see if it's working good. If not, maybe then you'll want a sound card.

I personally run 250 ohm headphones, and my motherboard audio just can't do it well, so I went with a sound card that had a built-in amp. Works well, and has noticeably less noise than my motherboard.

Are you an audiophile, are you into music production? If not then no not really the on-board sound in most modern motherboards is more than adequate, my friend is into music production and he has a really nice sound card I have played games and listened to music on it with my headphones, i couldn't notice the difference at all.

I'm going to be getting the Turtle Beach PX22 headset and I was wondering if I should buy a soundcard at the same time. Is it worth it with the headset?

What motherboard do you have im pretty sure it will be more than enough for some turtle beach's. I would recommend against turtle beaches however there are much better headsets out there for around the same price.

Thats a nice headset but I don't know that you'd realize the benefits of a separate soundcard, at least not enough to make it worth it. Some cards (like Creative ones) offer some positional sound techniques built in, but the game needs to support them (and a lot of times support is lacking).

I personally run a Creative Sound Blaster Titanium X-Fi HD, its inside of its own case which helps block out noise as its stuck between my 2 video cards, and it has a really good DAC and stuff like that because I'm into the best sound quality and clarity. I also have it hooked up to some expensive stereo equipment. I like it, but for most people the $180 I spent at the time on it just isn't worth it.

Ya... i built a computer system for my sister and put a Asus Xonar card in it..... its not even used. most motherboards now have nice audio built into it that you don't really need a sound card. As the poster above said he really just installed one to get an amp to run his headphones.
