Hi,
I am an intermediate network administrator and am having a problem setting up a VLAN.
I have an 8-port Firewall/VPN switch which is also running as DHCPs for the VLANs, I also have a 24-port smart switch connected to this.

I have 1 VLAN setup on the Firewall for connection to equipment that I don't want to connect to the internet and that can't be accessed by devices outside of the VLAN. This is via the 24-port switch which I have also setup into VLANs (2 groups) allowing me to connect multiple devices.

I also have another VLAN setup allowing internet and local connection.

The problem I am having is keeping the VLANs on the 24-port switch separate from each other.
The network management is set to work on the general VLAN. As soon as I connect the private VLAN firewall and switch together, the switch loses its ip address and tries to connect to an address out of range. When I unplug the private VLAN link between the devices and reboot. It alows connection again.

How can I keep the VLANs separate from each other? Also, how can I make the general VLAN take priority with the network management?

I hope someone can shed some light on this for me.

Kind Regards
