New build turns on then off immediately. Think I need to update BIOS but don't know how.

Just finished my first build, pushed the power button, everything starts up but then half a second later turns off. It then repeats this cycle over and over again until I turn off the power supply. On pcpartpicker.com it warned that "Some Intel Z87 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Haswell Refresh CPUs" so I'm assuming that is this issue (please correct me if you think its something else!).

So I've been doing research on how to update the BIOS without actually using the BIOS software and it seems like my best option is to the "Flash install the BIOS". **But how do I do this if the machine only turns on for one or two seconds?** I also tried connecting it to the monitor with an HDMI but the monitor doesn't even detect the desktop. I've also read about installing a different CPU, updating the BIOS, then reinstalling my CPU now that the motherboard will be compatible with it.

Any ideas on how I can do this or if this problem may be due to something else?

**My specs:**

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87-DS3H ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

Memory: Crucial 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory

Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 970 4GB STRIX Video Card

Power Supply: Corsair Enthusiast 650W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply

Try setting up the BIOS first. Start with setting "optimized defaults." Then the memory speed & timings if needed. Enabling XMP, then set Profile1, should set the memory to the correct speed & timings. Timings are important. Save settings and exit and boot to see if you get stability then. You need to set the BIOS with a new build, a bios update or just a bios reset too. And sometimes a bad shutdown might give the bios a hick-up and you will have to set it up again.
