Looking for buy a Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 but need to know what internet would be the best support for it.... This is my first time using a router that wasn't rented from my internet provider. I'm currently with Verizon FiOS.

With FiOS, it GREATLY depends on how your overall network is set up.
Do you also have TV through Verizon?

Generally, the default setup is coax from the ONT to the verizon router, then coax and ethernet out tot he set top boxes and PC's.

That router must be in there. It is the actual brain of the operation, and serves an IP address to the set top boxes, as well as the PC's.

Of course, you can put your Netgear after the Verizon router, and turn off the Verizon router WiFi, etc.
Or, you can buy, for a one time fee ($100?), one of the better routers from Verizon. I have one, and it's actually pretty good.
I have the Quantum Gateway.

There is also a config to go Cat5e from the ONT to a router, but that will involve extra wiring and setup.

I will be getting rid of the TV soon so I'm not sure what will happen when I just have internet coming from them.
