Hello everyone,
My pc was really old, (intel core 2 duo cpu)
so I decided to upgrade some parts,
got a new motherboard asus z97k
and cpu i5 4690k
and ram is kingston 1333 4gb x2

and i used my existing graphic card which is hd 7870

now when i first built the system it wouldnt boot, nothing came up, just black screen,
I tried connecting the monitor to the graphic card and the motherboard,
both cases nothing

then i tried without the graphic card; just plugged out the pcie power from the card
and everything is working fine now,

I'm just wondering if there's anyway of knowing whether i can salvage this card, (or have I confirmed that the card is broken; but I've been using the card in my old computer and the fans still spin when connected)

yeh i bought a ssd and installed new windows 8.1 on it

oh and just to add,
it seems a little weird to me that the onboard graphics, that is intel hd 4600 is working fine when graphic card is connected
but is there a reason that the onboard intel graphic should not work when the graphic card (hd 7870) is installed?
