EVGA GTX 760 Overclock Issues

I have never been able to successfully add even one puny millivolt to the card without some issues (I would also appreciate some insight as to whether I am doing it wrong or just a bad card) so I left it at simply increasing the power limit to 115% and overclocking the Core to just under 1200MHz and the Memory just under 1600 MHz. This isn't very far and I would like to know if I am doing something wrong as I am not new to overclocking but still rather novice and confused at this point. Recently I have been crashing a lot in games so I have reeled the overclock back to basically stock 1072MHz core and 1502MHz Memory, all help and tips are appreciated. I use MSI Afterburner and the card I have is the 2GB EVGA GTX 760 SC. Thank you.

I put the settings to what they had and backed off a bit on the core and mem frequencies and hit 90 Celsius instantly. Something tells me that config may not work...

And I have a lot of stuttering

The thing is though that I used to have a much harsher overclock on it with stable temps peaking around 75 degrees. I will run some more tests today but I dont know what is going on.

The stability is not an issue. It is the temps and I think I have located the issue. The fans seems to be pushing next to no air at all. I am so confused at this point.

Try getting a free software called OpenHardwareMonitor. I use it all the time, and you can change the speed of your fans in percentage, so no mistakes can be made. Once you get it, when you see GPU fan and then the RPM after it, right click on the GPU fan control and go to manual then make it 100%. Hope it solves your problem!

I changed the speeds manually in MSI Afterburner and even at 100% fan speeds I hear it, and they are very loud yet hardly any air comes out.

I always thought the ACX cooler exhausted air in to the case, not took air in to cool the chip.

lol, i thought that too when i first got one. If it were to blow hot air away from the chip, you would need a huge setup of fans connected to the sides of the GPU to blow air in at the sides, or else it would overheat very, very fast.

Ok so the fans are pulling air up to the chip, I have very adequate cooling in the case with a fan literally right beside the GPU exhausting air. I have no clue why my card is overheating now.

Quick edit: After doing some research your are 100% correct and I feel the air coming out of the exhaust ports all around the card and out the back, sorry about that. Now should the fan beside the GPU exhaust or intake for better cooling?

It is a case fan technically but I modded the side panel of my case and threw a Corsair 120mm fan there that is currently in exhaust mode.

I have 2 120s pulling air in to the case in the front. One 120 exhausting out the side, one 140 exhausting out the top. And 2 fans on a 120mm rad pulling air in from the back in a push-pull.

Either way this thread is waaay off of my main issue lol.... My card is hitting 90 degrees w/o an overclock any insight will help.
