I'm running windows 8.1 and I'm 50% sure that it has to do something with my drivers. The Ethernet cable works fine and the Ethernet port seems to be working (it lights up which I'm guessing its an indication that it works can not be too sure though) I don't really know what drivers to download to get my Ethernet working. The only thing that shows up under the Network Adapter is "VIA Rhine III Compatible Management Adapter". I've upgraded my Dell Precision T7500 if that helps.(First "Computer Build" ever.) Ethernet not working new PC build. (Drivers?)

You go to the mobo maker's / manufacturer's site search for the model then download/install the drivers
Altho Win7 and 8 usually install generic LAN and audio drivers which should work
If you connect the ethernet cable to a modem if you can get online then you'll know if its working. If it works the drivers are installed
Is the Dell the one youre using now or something else? That VIA thing isnt listed on the Dell site as a network file /install for that Dell

I honestly don't know what the via thing is but I have tried to download drivers from the dell site but no avail. For some reason there isn't windows 8.1 drivers for the Dell Percision T7500 or do I just have to download a generic lan driver? Do you mind giving me a lan driver download site? I've tried several drivers but none seems compatible for some reason its probably my fault entirely though. My motherboard is manufactured from dell and its the 6FW8P Version A00 if thats of any help.
You may have to disable it, and buy a separate one then.
