My PC was working extremely fine for about a year but then one day i was playing fifa15 and suddenly my PC shuts in between game (like a power failure or something but there was no smoke or burning smell or a spark etc nothing unusual). I opened up the case and found nothing unusual there. Then i took off my video card (Sapphire HD6870) from the slot (I have only one PCIE slot on my mobo) and tried to turn on the PC by shorting power on motherboard (because all the time i had to press the power button for long time to turn it on) and the PC started normally.
Then i reseated the card and shorted the power on mobo and my PC started for a split second and all the fans (i.e, CPU,GPU,Cooler,PSU) ran for a splt second and the front lights turned on for a split second and then my pc shuts off. I noticed that when my PC shuts off in this manner i had to turn my PSU off (i.e, switching the power button behind my PSU to off) then turn it on again to turn my pc on again(by shorting power on mobo) other wise it wont start even if i short the power on mobo.
Another thing i noticed that when i reseat the video card and does not connect the power cord from PSU to video card my PC turns on normally and my GPU fan also runs but when i connect the power cord from PSU to GPU my PC again start to behave abnormally (i.e turns on for a split second then shuts off)
Please can anyone help me what could be the reason?

All the parts warranty have expired sadly :(
and all the parts are wayyy to expensive here :(

My PC Specs:
Intel® Core™ i3-3220 Processor (3M Cache, 3.30 GHz)
Intel® Desktop Board DH67CL
Sapphire HD 6870
2 x 4GB ram (Kingston)
PSU Cooler Master GX 550W Bronze

From what I see here, your PSU is failing...when the GPU is connected to the PSU and requiring the additional power the system fails. With the hard re-set of the PSU after each system shut down, I am 99% sure the PSU has failed. I would get a new one IMMEDIATELY before continuing any use on that PC. If the PSU is faulty, it could damage other components in your system.

Replacing the PSU is a lot cheaper than replacing an entire system...

500W-550W at your current setup is more than fine, but if you want to upgrade later a 750W is becoming pretty common.

I went with 850W but that is just because I want to do 970's SLI and possible over-clocking later on when the CPU/GPU get dated to make the system last a few more years.

I had the same problem but i solved it so:
I removed the PSU and MoBo.
I connected the PSU Cables (CPU and 20/24pin connector to the MoBo.
Shorted the power_switch connection.
Voilá it turned on.
So what happend is i screwed the MoBo too hard in the Case.
